Ok, so I know that Christmas is still very far away, but I want to get a jump on making Christmas card this year. Lawn Fawn has some great sets that they just released that I knew would make a great card. I wanted this card to really free like all the best things of Christmas are in one place. I used the Into the Woods set for the deer (Lawn Fawn also announced today that they have created lawn cuts for the Into the Woods set!), the santa hat comes from the Hats Off to You set, the words and trees are from Peace Joy Love and the tag is from the Winter Gifts set.
The Red and Green flower and bakers twine is from Pick Your Plum!
I hope you enjoyed my fun card. Are you going to make Christmas cards this year? When do you get started?
I am going to go a little Throwback Thursday on you today for my first non-card post! I made this sugar scrub for all the amazing mothers in my life for Mother’s day.
For the sugar scrub I combined regular white sugar and coconut oil in a 4:1 ratio. At first it did not seem like it was combining but I continued to mash it down with the back of a spoon and it combined nicely. I also added a bit of lemon zest, and a couple drops of lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, and sweet orange essential oils. It smelled amazing and makes my skin so soft. My mom even suggested that it smelled so good she wanted to eat it. 🙂
I found the Rajtan spice jars at Ikea and knew they would be perfect! I also used some of the paper I got at Paper Source, which I cut out with my heart punch and mod podged it onto the front of the jar. I then added Pick Your Plum twine and a bobby pin with resin flower (also pyp).
I hope you enjoyed my post of today. Do you give homemade gifts to people? I think it more meaningful and personalized.
Happy Memorial Day!
I am participating the Lawn Fawn Operation Write Home Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop. Operation Write Home is a great organization that sends handmade cards to members of our armed services who are deployed. The deployed men and women can then use those cards to send home to their friends and family. If you are interested in participating as well, you should check out their site.
I wanted to create two different cards to be able to send to OWH. One that was a little feminine and one a little masculine.
The first card was inspired by Sketch B-28, which can be found on the bonus sketch link.
For this card I used the bee and phrase from Lawn Fawn gnome sweet gnome stamp and die set. I told you I would make a great card using the super cute bee! 🙂 The embellishments are all from Pick Your Plum, including that beautiful washi tape and the bakers twine.
The next card is for the Midweek Throwdown X 3 challenge. I wanted to create a clean and simple card highlighting red, white, and blue.
I used the Lawn Fawn dad’s day set to create a masculine feel. I also used some of my NEW bakers twine. Remember the picture that I shared last week? Its so soft and and thick. I really love my bakers twin. Can you tell?
I wanted to create cards that could be personalized by the military person receiving them. Each one can be used for any event or holiday. I hope you enjoyed them as well!
Is there a card or theme you would to see me try? Something you’d like to see in my style? Let me know in the comments below, and I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
I have a fun card that I made this weekend. It highlights some other fun embellishment from Target. I found the beautiful felt flower chain in the dollar bin. As soon as I saw it I knew I could make a great card with it, and I was very inspired by a pink and mint combination. In April, one of the blogs I follow (Capture the Moment) had a Tilted challenge. I did not participate in the challenge, but I have been inspired ever since. I really wanted to tilt my embellishments for this card and I think it gives the card a great flow. I think it is always good to have extra thank you cards on hand and I knew the Lawn Fawn Many Thanks set would be perfect for this card. The washi tape, poka dot flower, and pink resin flower are all from Pick Your Plum.
Speaking of Pick Your Plum, I have to show off the beautiful Bakers Twin that I got in the mail last week.
Isn’t it just amazing?! I can’t wait to make something fun with it. Check back next week to see what fun cards I make with it.
Do you use bakers twine? If so, how?
Now that all my Mother’s Day cards have been given out, I can post them on my blog. My fiance and I had a very nice time celebrating Mother’s Day with my family at my aunt’s house in Newport Beach. We haven’t been up there in a while, and it was really great to see my family.
For each of these cards I used the Mother’s Day stamp set from Lawn Fawn for the sentiment and the cute bright flowers. All the washi tape and baker’s twine was from Pick Your Plum. Most of the embellishments I already had in my stash, so I just picked out the ones that were perfect for each card.
This is the Mother’s Day card I made for my mom. I absolutely love the the mint green sparrow that I got from an amazing local craft store (Paper Tales).
This card was made for my future Mother-in-Law. She leaves up north so we weren’t able to be with her this year. I used my Anna Griffin “Poppy” embossing folder for the background and added a paper flower from Pick Your Plum.
This card was for my dad’s mom. I wanted to do something very silly and fun, so I used Lawn Fawn’s Critters Ever After, which I am totally in love with – I wish I could use it on everything. I added a bit of glitter to each of the critters to give them a magical feel. I had an exceptionally fun time with this one.
Finally, this card was for my mom’s mom (my Ita). I used the Cricut Ribbons & Rosettes Cartridge, which she gave me for my birthday. It thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show her the beautiful stuff I could make with the cartridge.
