How we used #Hashtags at our wedding

For our wedding we really wanted to take advantage of technology and use #hashtags.  For those of you who don’t know what a hashtag is I looked to Wikipedia to find you the answer:

hashtag is a word or a phrase prefixed with the symbol #.[1][2] It is a form of metadata tag.

Hashtags provide a means of grouping such messages, since one can search for the hashtag and get the set of messages that contain it.

So basically when you use a # infront of a word on certain social media sites you have now created a link between your post and other people who use the same hashtag.  The great thing about this as you can use it for marketing or for sharing information all in one place.  I created this sign and placed it by our guestbook:

So when our guests used any type of social media and they used our wedding hashtag we were able to find those pictures and posts.  Here are some of the great pictures that are guests took!

The great part about using hashtags is that  we were able to the view our wedding from the eyes of our guests.  Professional photos are beautiful, but sometimes you need the real feeling of the event.

Have you used #hashtags at any event or wedding?  What do you think of them?

Wedding Shoes, Garter, Hair Piece and a Ring

Happy Wednesday! Today’s post is a look into some of my accessories for wedding.

Beautiful Bridal Flats, Gater and Hair Piece! Perfect for a romantic vintage wedding. From bubmelbreeblog and photoes from Melinda Lara Photography

First, I want to start with my beautiful custom-made hair piece and garter.  Right after our engagement my husband (isn’t it so fun saying that!) and I went up North to visit his family.  We were able to visit one of my favorite stores, Gracefully Vintage, where I found the gorgeous cream lace and I knew it would make the perfect bridal accessories.  A couple months later when I went to a swap meet I found the vintage buttons and I knew I had to use them too!

I took all my beautiful pieces down to a charming bridal boutique in La Mesa, Sparrow Bridal!  Sparrow Bridal is a consignment bridal boutique. I take every engaged friend I have to this great shop.  The owner is super nice and helpful.  The dresses and accessories are beautiful and the owner makes the hair pieces and  garters herself!  She will also do custom designs like she did for me.  She took my beautiful materials and created amazing accessories!   Don’t you just love them!?  Her prices are fantastic and I recommend that every bride stop by and check it out!  I didn’t get my dress there but my best friend did and she was super happy with it.  All of the items I did buy were perfect as well.

Now for my beautiful shoes!  High heals and I don’t agree so I knew that on my wedding day I need some beauitufl vintage flats and when I found Pink2Blue on Etsy.com I knew I found the shoes of my dreams!  The great part about her shoes is that you can have them stained to whatever color you want!  She adds all the beautiful lace, crystals and pearls so that you can pick and choose what you want.  I just had her match the picture on her site and I was not disappointed.  They came beautifully wrapped and were shipped completely safe.  They also came with beautifully tea stained ribbon that can be used to tie the shoes just like ballet flats!  The day of, these shoes were a God sent.  I was able to party all day and night long.  I was worried about the bottom of the shoes at first but they held up through dirt, cement, asphalt, carpet and grass!  The next day the shoes looked just as good as the day I got them in the mail.  I was extremely satisfied with my purchase of my gorgeous wedding flats!

On a quick side note my stunning engagement ring came from Robbins Brothers!

Finally, I want to say a big Thank You to Melinda Lara Photography for these great photos that she took of my accessories during  our boudoir photoshoot for Steven’s grooms gift.  Lets just say he really liked it.  😉

Alternative Bachelorette Party- Stamp Delights

Hello all!

We are finally back from the honeymoon and I am ready to start giving my blog some more love! I am even hoping to craft something today.  🙂

For today’s post I wanted to talk about my bachelorette party.  I am not a “go to Vegas and get smashed” type of person, but rather a nerdy crafter who loves her cat.  I wanted to be true to myself so I decided I wanted to have a crafting bachelorette party!

Alternative Bachelorette Party at Stamping Delights in La Mesa. Review by bumblebreeblog.

There is a great little, diamond-in-the-ruff, stamping shop, Stamp Delights, in La Mesa that I frequent a lot.  She has thousands of stamps and is always getting new stuff and has a lot of great classes as well.  She was super nice and created such a great custom class for us at a great price.  For our class, we created our own 6×6 memory books using the theme from the wedding: blue, yellow, burlap and lace.  Debby did a great job putting together a great sample and going step by step through each part of the book.  Many of my guests aren’t big crafters so they were really hesitant about creating a craft but Debby made them feel comfortable and everyones books looked amazing!!  She also took all these great pictures and had them send to me on the same night.  I recommend Stamping Delights for any crafter that wants something unique or hard to find, the products are great and the classes are fun and Debby is so accommodating and friendly.

My Matron of Honor also did a great job bringing food creating a great environment for us.  She brought yummy food, decorative water bottles, and homemade strawberry lemonade (which was amazing!!).

I hope that you enjoyed the look into my bachelorette party and I hope that more brides stay true to themselves and have a party that represents them!

Vintage Wedding Ring Bag

Hello Blog Friends!

Wow!  Sorry it has been so long.  I have been using all my crafting energy making wonderful things for my wedding.  I didn’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone attending the wedding, but I will share all the beauties with you I promise.  I have found a project that I am excited to share with you today.

Vintage Wedding Ring Bag Final

We won’t be having  a ring bearer so I wanted something small and beautiful to keep the rings safe in the Best Man’s pocket.  The linen bag and the cream flower are from (can you guess it?…)  Pick Your Plum of course!  The blue flowers, lace, and vintage sequins are from my stash.  Finally, I am excited that I got to use my new Love and Marriage Stamp Set from Papertreyink.  I bought this stamp especially for the wedding and I am so happy I get to share it with you.

I hope you enjoyed!

Wedding Invitations – Our good, bad, and ugly

Hello team,
I don’t want this to become a wedding blog, but there are probably going to be a few more posts like this one, especially since my fiance and I have just reached the stage where we have to start making things for the day of celebrations.  There are 68 more days until Steve and I get married and it has been crazy. 🙂

For this post, I want to share our advice on dealing with vendors, particularly for wedding paper products. I’m going to go over the good and the bad parts of our experience, and hopefully you will be able to find something useful for your own events (even if it isn’t a wedding).

Wedding Invitations - Our good, bad, and ugly. Advice on dealing with venders from bumblebreeblog.

Save the Dates

Good

We were super happy with our StD. I found a beautiful templet off weddingchicks.com. We uploaded some of our engagement photos, saved them as a jpg, and sent them to a local copy/print shop. Super easy and the process was great.  We were even able to print 6 different versions without any added cost.  Win!

Not as good

The way the return address was placed on the templet, the post office got confused and mailed about 15 StDs back to us.  That was kinda disappointing, but we just placed those in envelopes and mailed them again.  Easy fix.

Wedding Invitations

Good

We loved out StD so much we wanted to have all our wedding paper product match. I soon found out that the company that produced the StD template was local. I emailed them and asked if they had a invitation package that matched the StD. They didn’t, but said we could have one custom created. I was super excited and happy. The good part is that the invitations matched the StD perfect! All the beautiful details that we loved about the StD were in the wedding invitations.

Not as good

Around the beginning of April I started to get concerned that I hadn’t heard anything from the company. I emailed and didn’t hear anything for about a week, so I called. After a few days of no reply, Steve emailed them again. We finally got a response and were able to move forward with the proofs. The communication was not great between ourselves and the vendor. They were also later in communication which cause the processed to be rushed and mistakes made.

The ugly

Since the process was so rushed we didn’t request to view a sample before printing started.  I was not very happy with the proof of the envelope  liner but picked the better of the two, and ended up being unhappy.  The company forgot that we had paid to have the envelopes printed, which caused even more of a delay and for us to rush the guest list which caused some incorrect addresses.  We finally received the invitations late and had two days to assemble and send out the invitations.  The worst part was, we soon found that one address was double printed, one wasn’t printed at all, 4 had letters cut off, and one even had a last name cut off completely.  For the amount that we paid to have everything addressed and printed it was very disappointing.

Advice

How do we think these things could have been, not avoided, but lessened

1. Don’t let the vendor talk you out of  yourtime table (if your timetable is doable by the vendor).  We let the vendor talk us out of having the invitations finished by early April so we could have plenty of time to assemble them and deal with issues.

2. Trust your gut.  If you feel that your vendor should have contacted you by a certain point, contact them and increase your communication with them.

3.  Be assertive with what you want.  Some things are not doable but you won’t know until you ask.  Don’t be too attached in case your requests are not achievable, but it never hurts to ask.

4. My fiance, Steve, works in project management, and has been saying over and over again that he wishes he would have monitored the vendor more closely. It is perfectly fine to keep up regular communication with a vendor, especially when they are providing a time sensitive item like and invitation.

Bridezilla Verses Assertiveness

If your experiences are similar to mine you have had friends and family who have joked about you being a bridezilla.  I was so worried about being a bridezilla that I was scared to be assertive at all.  This is my biggest advice to future brides.  Don’t let your fear cause you to settle on a situation that others think is better, but you don’t agree with.  You do have to compromise with our partner, but as long as you communicate openly there should not be many situation that you will feel really bummed about later.  The day is about you and your significant other and those are the only two people who have the deciding factor.  There is nothing wrong with having nice things, that you truly appreciate, at your wedding.  If paying a little extra for custom make invitations is your thing or life size ice sculptures of you and your soon to be husband/wife makes your heart smile, and you can afford it, go for it!  Just having something impressive doesn’t make you a bridezilla.
